Uruguayan President reiterates solidarity with Saharawi cause

Montevideo, July 24, 2014 (SPS) - President of the Republic of Uruguay, José Mujica, on Tuesday reiterated “solidarity and support” to the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination, in a meeting with the Secretary General of the Saharawi Women Union, Fatma Mehdi and SADR ambassador in Uruguay, Chaibani Abbas, who participated in Progressive Alliance seminar, held on Tuesday and Wednesday in Montevideo.

Summer University of SADR Cadres to be held on 3-21 August in Boumerdes

Algiers, July 24, 2014 (SPS) - The 5th edition of the Summer University of Cadres of the Polisario Front and Saharawi Republic (SADR) will be held from 3rd to 21st August 2014 in the Algerian city of Boumerdes, announced Thursday the Algerian National Committee of Solidarity with the Saharawi people (CNASPS).
Organized jointly by CNASPS and the Saharawi Embassy in Algiers, the summer university annually brings together cadres representing all the institutions of the Saharawi state.

President of Republic oversees ceremony honouring Saharawi graduates

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), July 24, 2014 (SPS) - President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz oversaw today morning, Thursday, a ceremony to honour the Saharawi graduates for the study year 2013-2014.
Organized at the headquarters of the Ministry of Education, the ceremony was also attended by members of Polisario Front’s National Secretariat and Saharawi governments.

South African Parliament pleads for Saharawi people’s right to self-determination

 
Pretoria, July 24, 2014 (SPS) - Chairperson of the international relations and cooperation committee of the South African parliament Mr. Moses Masango has stressed the need to enable the Saharawi people of their right to self-determination, in an intervention during the debate on budget vote of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, said Thursday SADR embassy in Pretoria.
Pending the referendum to take place, stated Mr. Masango, Western Sahara natural resources must be protected from Moroccan state’s looting.

Frente Polisario “strongly” condemns genocide in Gaza Strip

Saharawi refugee camps: week of solidarity with Cuban people

Auserd (refugee camps), July 23, 2014 (SPS) - A week of solidarity with the Cuban people kicked off today morning, Wednesday, in the wilaya of Auserd, Saharawi refugee camps.
According to the organizers, these celebrations are held on the occasion of the 61st anniversary of the Cuban revolution.
The opening day was attended by members of National Secretariat of the Frente Polisario and Saharawi government, in addition to cadres in the state, some Cuban doctors and the people of Auserd.

AI holds meeting about human rights situation in Western Sahara

Tenerife (Canary Island, Spain), July 23, 2014 (SPS) - Amnesty International holds today, Wednesday, at its headquarters in Tenerife, Canary Islands, a meeting to address the situation of human rights in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.
The event is attended by Mr. Hamdi Mansur, Polisario Front’s Representative in the Canary Islands, and Mr. Alberto Negrín, president of the Canary Association of Friendship with the Saharawi people. (SPS)
 

Adala UK urges Morocco to stop detention, maltreatment and torture of young Saharawis

London, July 23, 2014 (SPS) - The British association “Adala UK” has urged Morocco to stop the detention, maltreatment and torture of young Saharawis, adding that the perpetrators of such crimes never have to account for their actions, according to a statement obtained Wednesday by SPS.

Progressive Alliance seminar hails Polisario Front’s policy on gender equality

Montevideo, July 23, 2014 (SPS) - Participants at the Progressive Alliance seminar, held on 22-23 July 2014, in Montevideo, capital of Uruguay, have hailed Polisario Front’s policy on gender equality, during a discussion on the states’ experiences with regard to woman political organization.
Held under the theme “fighting inequality,” the seminar said that the Polisario Front is one of the few parties and movements which puts into practice such policy.
